American Typewriter is a slab serif typeface. It conveys an ethos of old fashion, vintage, or an industrial feel to it. This font was created in honor of the 100th anniversary of the invention of a typewriter. This font was supposed to imitate a typewriter text. I like this font because it is easy to read and how the ends of certain letters flip up at the end. American Typewriter has a ‘proportional design’ meaning that all the characters do not have the same width between them like an original typewriter does. Snell Roundhand has an ethos of fanciness and femininity. It was based on round hand scripts. Round hand scripts is a type of handwriting or calligraphy that was created in England. It has an elegant feel to it because of the flowing hand style and how it shows thin and thick strokes. I like this font because it is easy to read even though it has a cursive-look to it which is often harder to read. It looks hand-written to me. Didot is a serif font and is a group of typefaces named after French printing which produced the Didot Family. This font was used in printing in the late 1700s. It was inspired by an experiment with increasing stroke contrast. This typeface is described as ‘neoclassical’ meaning new. For me, Didot conveys an ethos of professionalism because it is easy to read and how uniformed the individual letters look.
